I photographed this because independent camera shops are a fast-disappearing type of business in the digital age. It turns out the building itself is of interest - listed grade 2 (list entry number 1262802). See also Image

12 - 16 Holywell Hill
Pair of buildings on Holywell Hill. Nos 14 - 16 dates originally from the late 16th Century but subsequently extended and remodelled. Grade II listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1262802. No 12, on the right, is locally listed.

Holywell Hill
Part of a line of buildings at the top end of Holywell Hill. The gateway between number 10 (on the right) and number 12 leads to a former coach house which served a large Georgian house on High Street. Both these buildings are locally listed. Beyond is number 14-16, with a mock half-timbered front, which is grade II listed, dating originally from the late 16th century - see Image for close up and for listing particulars see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1262802.

Holywell Hill
Part of a line of buildings at the top end of Holywell Hill, 18th/19th century replacements of earlier buildings. In the centre is no 10 now housing a fish pedicure shop, with no 8 beyond. The gateway between no 10 and no 12, part of which is on the left, leads to a former coachhouse which served a large Georgian house on High Street. All the buildings here are locally listed.

A former coaching inn, one of many on Holywell Hill, given its position on the main coaching route from London to the northwest. This was The Dolphin, originally dating from the 16th century. Grade II listed - see www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1103091.
