The Piper's Stone (3)
I thought this looked like a natural feature, and this is confirmed in https://canmore.org.uk/site/19721/the-pipers-stone. Tradition relates that it was here that the piper accompanying wedding parties took his stand. In the background is the old schoolhouse of Bourtie. Image]

Rocky Outcrops
The closer outcrops does not seem to have a name, but the more distant one is Image I am intrigued to know how these outcrops managed to survive the erosive effects of the ice sheets of the most recent Ice Age, when everywhere else in the vicinity has obviously been buried by deposits of till.

Bourtie Kirk, Kirkton of Bourtie
This remarkable, tiny Georgian church from ca. 1807 deep in the Aberdeenshire countryside with a simple rectangular plan is Grade-A listed: http://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/sc-2815-bourtie-parish-church-bourtie#.Vczo86SFOmQ . Alas, the church was locked when I visited.
