Ruins of Boddam Castle

Buchanness Lodge Marine Villa
This property was built in 1840 for the then Lord Aberdeen, reputedly to house his mistress, but ostensibly as a summer seaside residence. It was designed by the architect John Smith.
In its lifetime it has variously been, a Catholic holiday home, a hotel (known then as Earls Lodge Hotel) before it burned down and became derelict. It is now a private residence, partially restored.

Buchanmess Cottage, Boddam
The substantial 'cottage', dating from 1840, was designed by John Smith and is B-listed (LB16366 http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB16366 ). It was gutted by fire in 1984 but has been partly restored.
