Burngrains
Compared with some other stretches of the Formartine and Buchan way, this one was rather short on suitable places to eat one's packed lunch. It was too early for a stop here, and in any case the picnic table was in the shade and it was still quite chilly. We did wonder who actually uses the play equipment.

Confluences
The burn straight ahead was formed by the confluence of the White Burn and the Burn of Fortree, and on the left is the Ebrie Burn. The view is from the footbridge over the combined burns.

Glimpse of Burngrains farm...
...from the Formartine and Buchan Way. According to Celtic Placenames in Aberdeenshire by John Milne, 'burngrains' means 'branches of a burn' and indeed several streams or drainage ditches join Ebrie Burn at this point.
