Dinnet House from the South Bank of the Dee.
Dinnet House is a modern mansion in a large country estate. It is visible across the river, behind the evergreen trees. The woods here lining the Dee mainly contain silver birches, easily identifiable by their silvery-white trunks.

Aboyne and Braemar Railway
Crossing the now wooded Muir of Dinnet. The railway was intended to run as far as Braemar, but terminated in Ballater. The story goes that Queen Victoria did not like the idea of a railway passing Balmoral, but I suspect financial good sense was behind the decision. The line closed in July 1966.

Woodland, Muir of Dinnet
The moor is now mostly wooded and has been frequently burned in the past. When I first walked the trackbed in 1987 there were charred snow fences beside the path, these have now gone.
