The End of the Track
Or, perhaps, the start of it, depending on which way you're going. The gate excludes unauthorised vehicles from the forest road, which I note from the map is not on Forestry Commission land, though there is FC land to both north and south of this tract of forest. The Broom (Cytisus scoparius) provides a welcome splash of yellow among the gloomy greens.

Hyacinths
I am not certain that these are true Wild Hyacinths, or that they are Spanish Bluebells. They may be hybrids, though if so what they have found to hybridise with here in the forest is unclear. I was wearing shorts, and there were rather too many nettles between them and me for me to feel impelled to look at them more closely.
