PARLIAMENTARY WRITTEN QUESTION

To ask the Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, what assessment he has made of the potential implications for his policies of the finding by the Aberdeen & Grampian Chamber of Commerce that fewer than 10% of energy sector businesses are confident the UK will have sufficient skills capacity to deliver its energy transition ambitions; and what steps his Department is taking to address that gap.

In October 2025, we published the Clean Energy Jobs Plan, which set out the workforce needed to deliver our clean energy superpower mission.

The Department works closely with Skills England, Skills Development Scotland and the Scottish Government in delivering the Plan.

This includes launching five Clean Energy Technical Excellence Colleges in England, expanding the Energy Skills Passport, and providing £20 million to support the North Sea transition.

We will also launch a North Sea Jobs Service, which will offer career transition support for oil and gas workers looking to move into secure jobs in growing industries.
