St James the Great, Baldersby and Rainton
A Victorian church intended to make a statement. The spire can be seen for a long way around on the flat landscape. I had to come some way along the path to get it all in view. The church primary school is on the left.

Approaching Baldersby St. James
Following the field boundary on a public footpath towards the village - dominated by the church dedicated to St. James the Great. It has an unusual pencil thin tower surmounted by an even thinner spire - a feature that can be seen from miles around.

There is a benchmark cut into the south facing wall of the church. It is located on the first buttress to the right of the church tower, immediately right of the drainpipe.
