Ancient snicket leading to West End, Kirkbymoorside
The entrance to this alleyway, snicket, ginnel or jigger is barely 3 feet wide. It led from the old main road, West End (seen ahead) across fields and orchards, now a housing estate. As everywhere in this ancient market town, building materials are an intriguing and attractive mixture of anything available over the centuries.

No 83, West End
A grade II listed 1½-storey house from the early/mid C18, with earlier origins. Built in coursed rubble sandstone, partly cruck-framed, and with a single chimney stack to the left of a steeply-pitched pantile roof.
