The A1079
At this point, the A1079 is a dual carriageway. It was 'doubled up' for about one and a half miles at this point about thirty years ago. The 'new' section is dead straight, but the original (south east bound) side has several mild bends in it as it heads towards Shiptonthorpe.

Old Milestone by the A1079 lay-by, in Hayton parish
Metal plate attached to stone post by the A1079, in parish of Hayton (East Riding of Yorkshire District), lay-by on East-bound side of dual carriageway, on the verge between road and lay-by, on North side of road. Beverley mounting block, 3 step, erected by the Beverley to Kexby Bridge turnpike trust in the 20th century.
