Built c1765, possibly by John Carr. It has similar floating cornices to Carr's no. 47 down the road (Image]). Grade II* listed. Now part of Bootham School.

Built c1759 but enlarged and stuccoed c1830. Above the doorcase are fleur-de-lys finials and the central top-storey window has an apron. Grade II listed. Now part of Bootham School.

Bootham
Looking along Bootham with Bootham Bar in the background and the tower of York Minster appearing above the buildings to its left. Most of the buildings are listed, including the nearest, 57 Bootham, built in the 1750s with subsequent alterations which together with a number of other buildings here now forms part of Bootham School. Yellow Bike, Bootham
The yellow-painted bicycle, propped up the railings, is one of hundreds which have appeared all over York and North Yorkshire to commemorate the 2014 Tour De France (The first two stages of the race were held in the county on 5th and 6th July).

The grandest in the run of Georgian houses in which it sits. Five spacious bays wide and three storeys tall, Doric porch (Image]) and central tripartite windows. By Peter Atkinson (snr) for Richard Vanden Bempde Johnstone, 1804. Grade II* listed. Now part of Bootham School.

51 Bootham, York (Bootham School)
Built c.1805 by Peter Atkinson senior for Sir Richard Vanden Bempde Johnstone, Bart. Bootham School moved into the premises in the 1840s and it is still part of the core buildings of the School. Listed Grade II*.
