Old milepost
A view across the busy A19 on a murky day of the York 5 post at the south end of Shipton near the village sign. Part of the top ridge has been broken off at some time. It was painted in 2021 but suffers from rain and stones thrown up by passing traffic. It is Grade II listed 1190849.

Old Milepost by the A19, Main Street, Shipton parish
Cast iron post by the A19, in parish of SHIPTON (HAMBLETON District), South of Shipton, South of junction with Sandhole Lane, near village sign, on East side of road. York iron casting, erected by the Thirsk turnpike trust in the 19th century.
Inscription reads:-

Grade II listed.
