St Andrew's church and Robin Hood pub, Middleton-on-the-Wolds
Taken about 1964-7
This cross roads was the site of many accidents between quick moving traffic on the way from south and west Yorkshire towards Bridlington and the east coast meeting slower moving local traffic and agricultural equipment. A roundabout is now in place and traffic cannot exit by the pub.
At this time the railway link between Market Weighton and Driffield may have just been closed. Previously summer Saturday specials swept through to the coast every 15 minutes. By this time fleets of coaches were passing through Middleton every weekend day in summer.
This must have been a quiet weekday!
