Skipsea Brough
The hamlet of Skipsea Brough was planned in the 12th century to be a fortified town in the shadow of Skipsea Castle.
In the 13th century the Lord of the Castle joined an unsuccessful rebellion against King Henry 3rd. As a result, the castle was demolished on the king's orders and the town never came to anything.
