Kilham Church from East Street
David Hockney painted a picture of this view. East Street is the old Roman road from Bridlington to York which takes a sharp detour around the mound on which the church stands. This may mean that the mound itself was a ritual site long before the Romans came, which was then taken over by the Christians.
