Old Milepost by the B1410, Briggswath, Aislaby Parish
Cast iron post by the B1410, in parish of AISLABY (SCARBOROUGH District), Briggswath by bus stop; 100m West of 'pinch' at East end of village, on verge, on South side of road. Bedale rose iron casting, erected by the District Council in the 19th/20th century.

Old milepost
The F Mattison & Co. Bedale 'rose' casting at Briggswath on the south side of the B1410. This would have been the original main road into Whitby although the main route now is via the A169 and A171. This post is on the south side of the road near the bus-stop and about 100m west of a 'pinch' at the east end of the village.

There is the milestone in Briggswath, right by the bus-stop sign which could do with a repaint and straightening. The 120+ year old milepost has faired much better.

B1410 to Ruswarp
Running north of the River Esk at this point. At the time of writing, the road through to Whitby is closed at Ruswarp due to work on the gas supply. Businesses are open as usual.

Royal Blue to Kathmandu
VDV 749, seen here on the A169 heading down to Sleights, is the last remaining LS Bristol from the Swagman fleet. Swagman ran overland camping tours to North Africa and India. During the Arab/Israeli war, Nepal replaced Bombay as the final destination.
Currently in service with Coastal and Country Coaches Ltd, Whitby.
