Station Avenue, Filey
Looking down Station Avenue towards Filey town centre, at the crossroads Union Street is on the left, Belle Vue Street is on the right. Although there is a right-hand arrow clearly marking the lane for turning down Belle Vue Street, the amount of people who go down the left lane and turn right in front of the people in the CORRECT lane is simply staggering, and rather annoying!

Archway to memorial garden, Murray Street, Filey
The garden off Murray Street was given to the town in 1916 by George Nesfield Barnett as public open space, and provided a suitable location for this First World War memorial arch which was unveiled on 21 May 1921 (almost eactly a hundred years before this photo). It is listed Grade II (list entry 1433782) "as an eloquent witness to the tragic impact of world events on this local community, and the sacrifice it has made in the conflicts of the C20".

Silent soldier, memorial garden, Murray Street, Filey
The garden off Murray Street was given to the town in 1916 by George Nesfield Barnett as public open space, and later became a memorial to the Great War and subsequent conflicts. This "silent soldier" was probably added in 2018 along with similar figures across the country to mark the centenary of the Armistice. The flag flown bears the text "Lest we forget" along with the British Legion poppy and a ship.
