On my way back to West Ayton via my surprise-route through the Forge Valley. (I had planned to be west of here, but there was a footpath glitch!)

River Derwent meanders through fields
At the lower end of Forge Valley the river enters the Vale of Pickering at Ayton, dependant on which side of the river you are on,you are in East or West Ayton. The remains of Ayton Castle can be seen beyond the river.
