The Sea Horse Hotel
Situated on Fawcett Street outside the city walls. The Sea Horse has proportions that suggest a building date in the early 19th century. There are three pubs in close proximity here, and one wonders how they survive, being too far from the city centre to attract tourists, and not far enough out to be in a residential area.

York pubs - the former Cattle Market Inn, Fawcett Street
Dating back to at least 1851 as "The Paragon Inn" on a site almost adjacent to the former cattle market, this pub was renamed to "The Cattle Market Inn" by 1872. It closed as a pub in 1983 and was Toto's Italian restaurant when this image was taken. (Information from Hugh Murray: "A Directory of York pubs 1455-2004"; Voyager, 2004).
