Dating back to at least 1851 as "The Paragon Inn" on a site almost adjacent to the former cattle market, this pub was renamed to "The Cattle Market Inn" by 1872. It closed as a pub in 1983 and was Toto's Italian restaurant when this image was taken. (Information from Hugh Murray: "A Directory of York pubs 1455-2004"; Voyager, 2004).
