The Droveway in Pendeford north-west of Oxley, Wolverhampton
Looking north-west towards Fordhouses. There is extensive 1970s housing on the right, and further ahead off to the left, covering the area formerly occupied by Wolverhampton Municipal Airport. This is an attractively landscaped linear public park with many groups of trees, a games court for basketball/handball and a children's playground.
The housing estates here between the Shropshire Union and Staffordshire and Worcestershire canals are on former Wolverhampton Municipal Airport (closed 31 December 1970) land.

Heathland north-west of Pendeford, Wolverhampton
Pendeford Public Nature Walk. This is also listed by (but nor owned by) The Woodland Trust and called Pendeford Wood.
There is a beautiful area of heathland and birch woods open to the public here in Staffordshire, north of The Droveway. A mini car park can accommodate three or maybe four cars. If this area had been within the Wolverhampton boundary it would have probably been covered with housing when the rest of the land south of The Droveway was developed.
The area is at the edge of the former Wolverhampton Airport (see the 1960s map on this link https://www.ukairfieldguide.net/airfields/Wolverhampton-Airport )

Beautiful trees in Pendeford Park, Wolverhampton
The blackthorn blossom on the tree here was spectacular. Many more blackthorn bushes were also in full flower, especially abundant by the canal.
Pendeford Park is to the north of the Shropshire Union Canal, north-west of Oxley.
