Snowfall in Penn, Wolverhampton
The scene was reminiscent of "the old days" with kids in the street playing in the snow. Here in Buckingham Road, a 10cm fall the previous day had been augmented by a second dose which was still in progress.

Red skies over Penn, Wolverhampton
16:06 GMT
Looking through the branches of the oak tree in Buckingham Road. The sunset itself was unexceptional, but the clouds to the north and north-east showed some lovely shades of colour.

Daffodils on the Royal estate in Penn, Wolverhampton
This is at the junction of Buckingham Road with Balmoral Road. Note also the new LED lighting facilities. Pavements and verges are being totally relaid this spring, with extra young trees, so we hope they will not be abused and destroyed by persistent parking on the new turf.

A snowy Buckingham Road in Penn, Wolverhampton
Looking past the old oak tree at the junction with Balmoral Road.
The housing in this "Royal" estate was built in two eras, the late 1940s/early 1950s (as here) and the mid 1930s (there are some behind the camera). The short Balmoral Road links Buckingham Road with the crescent of Sandringham Road.
About 12-15 cm of level snow had fallen overnight and was still falling lightly as this image was taken, timed at just after 15:00 GMT.

Red dusk over Penn, Wolverhampton
16:03 GMT
I went out to record some images of the sunset, but although that was nothing special, in the opposite direction the clouds exhibited some lovely red, magenta and blue hues.

Eclipse time in Penn, Wolverhampton
This is Buckingham Road (the familiar royal oak tree!) at 09:31 on 20 March 2015. About 90% of the sun was covered by the moon, and the light was "watery" and thin, a kind of bright but gloomy simultaneously - the image doesn't really express the mysterious stillness which pervaded the scene.
It is said that wildlife is sensitive to events such as this. "My" robin was in a real vociferous "panic", flying back and forth right by the house at low level for several minutes around 09:25.

Sunset over Penn, Wolverhampton
This is looking south-west towards the "Royal Oak" in Buckingham Road at 16:50 GMT. Shining to the left of the oak tree is the planet Venus.
