"Endurance" steam powered road locomotive in Penn Road, Penn, Wolverhampton
Still going strong 111 years after it was built in 1903, is this steam powered road locomotive. It was built by Burrells of Thetford, Norfolk, one of the leading manufacturers of these vehicles. Its original use was as a showman's locomotive, as it was used to drive machinery at fairgrounds. The registration plate is BL8368. A fortunate stop at a red traffic light enabled this picture to be snatched!

The Hollybush near Spring Hill, Wolverhampton
The Hollybush on the A449 Stourbridge/Kidderminster road has had a "facelift" with extra wood cladding, and lost its famous function room, which had hosted many a party, reception, club, society and gig, and become a modern expanded eating house with its "two meals for the price of one" nonsense which so annoys single people who fancy a pint and a lunch. It still sells beer, though I haven't tried it out yet! See other images from just eight months ago: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1745867 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1752197 Update 26.11.10 "Pint of mild, please." "We don't sell mild." So much for tradition. Both Bank's and Marston's were traditionally renowned for good milds.
