Selwyn Close, Blakenhall
The houses in this residential cul de sac were constructed in a few subtly different styles, and are in alternating pairs with or without gables. I have it on the authority of a now deceased resident, who lived in Selwyn Close for many decades, that these houses were built in 1938 on the site of some allotment gardens.

Niphon Works Building, Wolverhampton
The frontage of this factory built in the 1860s is impressive, but in need of some maintenance. Some businesses still operate from within, but attaining "listed" status in 2004 could mean that proper restoration of the site may be in the pipeline. Most other Victorian factories have now disappeared from the "regenerated" area. Update November 2010. This building is in a mess. An application to convert to flats must be granted very soon in order for the frontage to be saved and integrated into the new design. Niphon Works Building, Wolverhampton
Built in the 1860s, what is left of this factory complex became a "listed" building in 2004. The frontage is looking a little the worse for wear now, despite some small businesses still operating from within. Update November 2010. This building is in a mess. An application to convert to flats must be granted very soon in order for the frontage to be saved and integrated into the new design. Niphon Works Building (detail) Wolverhampton
This Victorian factory was built in about 1865 for Robert Stroud, a manufacturer of tin trunks, tinware and japanned goods. The building has been "listed" since 2004, so maybe grant funded maintenance on the frontage, and structure behind can be expected soon. At present some small operators work from the premises. 2017: https://www.expressandstar.com/news/2017/07/08/historic-niphon-works-to-become-apartments/ Update November 2010.
