Regeneration in Wolverhampton
This view is from the rooftop car park of the Wulfrun Centre. The demolition clearance in the middle of the image is the site of the former Rackhams (later Netto/City Archives) building. The foreground car park is in Cleveland Street. http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2016/01/30/video-and-pictures-diggers-demolish-wolverhampton-netto/ http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2016/03/05/cellars-are-filled-in-as-demolition-continues-at-wolverhamptons-former-rackhams-store/

Wolverhampton - the new retail market site
The new retail market is expected to open in the spring, but it would not surprise me if that is delayed until mid-summer 2018.
The grey Wulfrun Centre in Cleveland Street, and the red brick Central Library can be seen.

The remains of Rackham's in Wolverhampton
The area enclosed by the white fence is where Rackham's department store (closed in 1992) stood. It became a Netto supermarket (closed in 2009) then housed the City Archives for a while. Demolition started in late January 2016.

New retail market in Wolverhampton
At long last it appears that the council really do want to get this new venue up and running by July 2018. (The discovery of old human remains will cause a delay though). This is the view from Snow Hill by the corner with Cleveland Street.
The icing on the cake when the market moves here would be a reinstatement of the "one hour free" car parking which used to apply long ago adjacent to the existing market square. Some hopes! There are two car parks nearby.
