Building site at Blakenhall, Wolverhampton
This is where the new Blakenhall Gardens housing development is now making good progress after some delays caused by national economic problems.
Seen from the corner of Chapel Street and Dudley Road, the foreground is where the old shopping precinct was. That included some useful Asian supermarkets where all manner of spices and fresh "ethnic" vegetables could be bought for reasonable prices. Plans include new shopping units here which will replace the demolished ones. In the distance is the spire of St Luke's Church above the new semi-detached house on plot No 61.
Update - April 2014: the whole project has been completed - looks very smart, including two excellent Asian supermarkets, and some smaller shops.

Dudley Road, Wolverhampton
This is near the junction with Byrne Road. Formerly the road was quite wide but now it has been narrowed to provide useful parking spaces and some wide pavements (at the cost of traffic standstill every time a bus stops). The area is generally "ethnic" and there are many shops, small/medium sized supermarkets, pubs and places of worship catering for those communities.
(Dudley Road is a very good place to come for all your spicy cooking ingredients!)
