Former Royal Wolverhampton Hospital
A Grade II Listed building designed by Edward Banks in 1845 with a 1912 Edward VII Memorial Wing to the left. Closed 1997 and undergoing conversion. I worked here in 1990-1991 or thereabouts but cannot remember where. I suspect the department I worked in has been demolished.

The Royal Hospital, Wolverhampton
Closed in 1997, all "operations" transferred to New Cross hospital. All sorts of wrangles and delays have occurred between Tesco, who wanted to develop the site with a huge supermarket and other facilities, and Wolverhampton Council, also involving another supermarket. Now, with the "credit crunch" upon us, and property values sharply lower, one wonders whether further delays will now take place. The image shows the front of the hospital in Cleveland Road.
