The Engine Shed, Severn Valley Railway
Open to the public last weekend, the engine shed, workshop and boiler shop keep the locomotives of the railway running. Here we see an example of the skills the railway has. The main frame of Stanier mogul no 42968 needed this new section welded in to replace a heavily corroded length. The right hand weld is complete. This unique engine will run again in 2020, possibly earlier if all goes well.

Severn Valley Railway - D2961
At the north end of Bridgnorth Station. This is a Ruston & Hornsby 165 horsepower 0-4-0 diesel electric shunter built in 1957. The British Railways number is fictitious. It worked in industry at a variety of locations but ended up with Patent Shaft Steelworks at Wednesbury. It was acquired by the Severn Valley Railway in 1980 and was used for some years but then had a long period out of use and under repair. It returned to service in 2013. It is now privately owned but remains on the railway and is serviceable.

1450 at Bridgnorth
Basking in the spring sunshine to the north of Bridgnorth station, 1450 is a GWR 0-4-2 tank engine built in 1932 and currently on an extended stay with the Severn Valley Railway. She is one of only four of her class to be preserved and can work with an autocoach - a traditional GWR method of working branch line services.

Severn Valley Railway - north end of Bridgnorth Station
Beyond the workshops and looking at the head shunt. Class 50 Ark Royal is in the process of running round and Ruston & Hornsby shunter No. D2961 is parked up. The latter's number and livery are fictitious as it never worked for British Railways. I rarely see this end of the site.

Two coaches and a diesel-hydraulic locomotive, Bridgnorth
On the north side of Bridgnorth railway station, the northern terminus of the heritage Severn Valley Railway.
The locomotive is one of a class of 74 diesel-hydraulic locomotives built for the Western Region of British Railways between 1961 and 1964. All had two-word names beginning with Western, such as Western Enterprise and Western Campaigner.

Information board, Bridgnorth Station private car park
On the right here http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4893342 viewed in early July 2014 when the parking fee is £3. The board states that the car park is managed by Legion Group on behalf of Severn Valley Railway (Holdings) plc. Proceeds from this car park are used for the upkeep of Severn Valley Railway stations and facilities.
