Former Jessops store in Wolverhampton Mander Centre
This was on the lower level of the Mander Centre.
Jessops the photographic retail and online store ceased trading on 11 January 2013. Within a few days the stores had been emptied and stripped. This was the last of three Jessops shops in the town centre (why did they ever need three?), and was the one remaining after the huge downsizing of the company in 2007. The remains of a sign from that previous move is all that shows now that this was ever a Jessops store.

HMV store in Wolverhampton
This is one of the retails units on the upper level of the Mander Centre in Wolverhampton. Currently there are many units not being used, due to multiple closures. Will HMV be next? The store is already in administration and threatened with closure.

Mander Centre during "lockdown", Wolverhampton
On Monday 23 March 2020 all non-essential shops were closed by law, and people were instructed to stay at home because of the coronavirus Covid-19 pandemic.
The recently refurbished Mander Centre does allow access to a few stores which sell food, and Boots (pharmacy only) but the centre is almost deserted apart from occasional security staff. Image taken at lunchtime on a sunny warm weekday, looking south.

Refurbished Mander Centre in Wolverhampton
Refurbished in 2018, looking south towards Debenham's.
All very "clinical" even on a bright day, and by Christmas I expect the centre will be far more populated than it is in this image. It's even got a car show area! Noticeable is that the same dreadful tinny "music" is still being piped through the appallingly bad sound system. Pity the open pitch traders who have to tolerate that for nine hours a day.
