Goodwood Drive near Oxley in Wolverhampton
Looking west-south-west towards Ranger Drive. Goodyear Neighbourhood Park is off to the right. The St Modwen Developments regeneration on the 88 acre former Goodyear tyre factory site has continued for many years, with housing and the relandscaped Wingfoot Park (now named Goodyear Neighbourhood Park and reopened in 2018). The park needs more trees, and some have been planted, and the area will be even more attractive in future years. There are basketball/handball courts, tennis courts and a children's play area. A fascinating nature conservation area has been built with three linked pools by Ranger Drive. The snow is a remnant of the 6-8cm fall dumped by Storm Arwen three days earlier.

Balancing pond and housing near Oxley in Wolverhampton
Looking south-east towards Ranger Drive and Akron Drive on a dull November morning. The attenuation pond (balancing pond) is divided into three stepped and linked pools, this image showing part of the third, the main storage (foreground) and the second (a reed pool for cleaning the water). Off to the right, and just visible is a settlement pond (to filter out sediment). Goodyear Neighbourhood Park map, Wolverhampton
This rather poorly conceived map is near the pools by Ranger Drive. It is rotated so that north is to the left. It has a co-ordinates panel duplicating the Goodyear Park information obscuring important map details; the coordinates could have been placed below on a white section. The map is not of the park at all, but of the newly built housing estate to the south.

Pool in Goodyear Neighbourhood Park, Wolverhampton
The pond area is divided into three pools, this being part of the third, the main storage and outlet pond. Off to the left are a settlement pond (to filter out sediment), and a second reed pool for cleaning the water. All three are linked and form an attenuation (or balancing) pond system. The scrounging ducks are a bonus ;-)

Ducks in the snow
These friendly ducks (and drakes) appeared very quickly when they saw me. They live by the three-pool attenuation pond in Goodyear Neighbourhood Park near Oxley in Wolverhampton. The snow is a remnant of the 6-8cm dumped by Storm Arwen three days earlier.
