Three Crowns Pub
The poor old Three Crowns pub, now closed and looking very sorry for itself. At one time it was a busy community pub with a well used function room, but due to the pub chain altering the place beyond recognition and turning the function room into what can only be described as a fast food outlet, it lost all its regular business and went downhill fast from then on. It now awaits planning to change it to a residential property – another good pub gone.

The Three Crowns near Walsall
It is by the B4151 Sutton Road, and I have read that it replaced another pub which was on the opposite side of the road where a pleasant green area now is. Another fine early twentieth century road house stands boarded up since 2008 and awaits its fate. These huge old pubs are probably too big for their own good in today's business and social climate. The large plot of land (4.2 hectares) will certainly catch the eye of developers for housing. http://www.midlandsheritage.co.uk/leisure/3288-three-crowns-walsall.html It has been reported that, "to make matters even worse and to add insult to injury, when they sold the property they placed a covenant on it to ban anyone else from selling alcohol on the site which means it can’t be re-opened as a pub or restaurant." http://walsall.ukip.org/articles/1121-green-belt-under-threat-again Planning committee details on p103 here: www.walsall.gov.uk/planning_committee_plans_list_02-12-10.pdf To be demolished in 2020: https://www.expressandstar.com/news/local-hubs/walsall/2020/02/28/derelict-fire-hit-pub-to-finally-be-demolished-after-sitting-empty-for-13-years/

Over the last week or so there has been some wild weather with very low temperatures, gale force winds and heavy rainfall. This sign beside Skip Lane in Walsall gives residents and others who may drive along here due warning of one of these hazards. Skip Lane runs south-west from its junction with the B4151 Sutton Road then roughly southwards until it joins the A34 Birmingham Road to the south-east of Walsall Image Time photo taken 10.18 am GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
