Walsall Canal's Anson branch heading south in 1979
The Anson branch heading towards its junction with the Walsall Canal seems relatively well watered in this image despite having been abandoned and so not maintained since 1961. It appears to branch to the right and once did; that was the Bentley Canal, also abandoned in 1961 and with its water ending after just a few metres. Beyond that, it had already been infilled, at least for some distance.

Junction of Bentley Canal and Anson branch of Walsall Canal, 1979
The view is from the eastern remnant of the Bentley Canal as it was found in April 1979; behind the camera position it had been infilled. Both the Anson branch and the Bentley Canal were abandoned in 1961 though at the time of the photography, the Anson branch still had water.
