I’m Inspector Saqib Butt, and I’m thrilled to be your neighbourhood policing manager for the Outer Sector of Walsall. I’m here to tell you a bit about myself and what I hope to achieve in our community.
I’ve been part of the policing world for over two decades now, starting my journey back in 2003 at Birmingham’s Stechford Police Station. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving in various roles, including time with the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) and Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU). But what really gets me going every morning is neighbourhood policing.
I’m passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives and the places they call home. That’s why I’m so excited to be leading the charge in Aldridge, Brownhills, Streetly, Darlaston, and Willenhall. These areas are filled with vibrant communities, and I’m determined to build strong relationships with each and every one of you.
One thing you’ll quickly learn about me is that I’m all about communication and collaboration. I firmly believe that by working together, we can tackle any challenge that comes our way. Whether it’s addressing residential burglary, vehicle crime, youth violence, or anti-social behaviour, we’re in this together.
My amazing team of officers and I are here to listen to your concerns, answer your questions, and act where needed. We want to hear from you, whether it’s at community meetings, local events, or just out on the street. Your input is invaluable in shaping the way we police our neighbourhoods.
To keep you in the loop, my officers regularly share updates using X and WMNow. And if you ever need to report an issue or just want to chat, you can reach out to us via Live Chat on our website or by calling 101.
Together, let’s make our communities safer, stronger, and more united than ever before. I can’t wait to meet you all and get started on this journey together!

Hi, I’m Inspector Pete Poolton and I cover the areas of Blakenall, Bloxwich, Coalpool, Leamore, Birchills, Alumwell, Chuckery, Pleck, Palfrey, Alumwell, Walsall town centre and Caldmore.
I have been within the police service for nearly 26 years and relatively new to my neighbourhood role. I am a local lad who wanted to be a police officer since the age of six. I carried out work experience whilst at high school with WMP. My passion for policing job hasn’t wavered, nor has my commitment to taking local policing back to what I know communities want in trusted relationships with your officers where we work together to resolve community priorities.
Since joining the Police in 1998 I have worked most of my years in front line roles whether that be as a Police Constable walking the beat of Tipton day and night or leading a 999-response unit as a Sergeant in Walsall.
I have worked in proactive teams, multi-agency settings and led the evolvement of offender management. Prior to being promoted to Inspector I set up what is now a running multi-agency exploitation hub in Walsall focusing on early intervention to those young people most at risk of harm.
In my current role I am responsible for seven local policing areas each with a small team comprising of both PC’s and PCSO’s. I have five Sgts that manage these teams and a deputy/co-ordinator. As part of my role I will also conduct regular duties as 999 response cover.
I am also the chair of a newly formed multi-agency tasking group that brings key partners together to tackle the issues raised by our communities in a collaborative way. I have real hopes for the coming year that this group can really bear fruit for local people.
Having been in role for 12 months it has been great to see crime falling for my neighbourhoods but I feel that the fear of crime has not fallen with it and this is a priority for me.
Through consistent engagement with my community and by working directly with them, and partners, I know this can change and is my personal objective for the next 12 months.
I know that we have so much to do and so many things that could be better, we are by no means in a position I would like to be with crime and each and every incident is one too many.
My policing teams will be holding regular community/councilor meetings and it is there that we will listen and agree ways in which we can help resolve the concerns raised to us.

Unfortunately, on some occasions store staff have been assaulted when challenging shoplifters, this is unacceptable and we are taking proactive steps to identify and prosecute those responsible, this will include a plain clothes police presence in store. |
2 Jul 2024 | Vehicle Crime Officers have been conducting pro-active patrols at locations vulnerable to vehicle crime, such as car parks and locations hidden from public view, this has resulted in stolen vehicles being recovered, uninsured drivers having their vehicles seized and prosecuted. Also, intelligence gathered surrounding vehicles used by drug dealers which have been placed on the Police National Computer for consideration for stopping and searching. |
2 Jul 2024 | ASB Officers have been conducting patrols at locations causing our communities most concern, this has resulted in receiving intelligence as to who may be responsible in order to build evidence to prosecute these individuals. We are also working with housing providers to conduct joint visits at properties where some ASB activity is taking place, so occupants understand the effects of their behaviour and the consequence this can have on their tenancy and as individuals. |
