Old Milepost by the A513, Armitage with Handsacre Parish
Cast iron post by the A513, in parish of ARMITAGE WITH HANDSACRE (LICHFIELD District), between Armitage and Rugeley, on the verge, on North side of road. Lathe iron casting, erected by the County Council in the 19th/20th century. Inscription reads:- : ARMITAGE 1 / HANDSACRE 1½ / KINGS - / BROMLEY 4 / LICHFIELD 6½ / ALREWAS 7½ / BURTON 14¾ : : ARMITAGE : : RUGELEY 2 / STAFFORD 11¼ : : Chas. This 21 feet (6·4 metres) long fibre-glass Dolphin cruiser is moored on the Trent and Mersey Canal near Hawkesyard Hall, just a mile west of the Armitage Shanks bathroom and toilet factory.
