Hednesford Signal Box
Semaphore signals are still in use on this quiet line between Walsall and Stafford. Passenger services have been reintroduced after many years of freight traffic only.

New Signals in place
Hednesford signal box will be replaced within the next year. Control will pass to the new signal centre at Saltley which is taking over all the West Midlands signalling. A new signal has been placed but is not in use as yet. Meanwhile just opposite but out of view the new Tescos is well under construction.

Hednesford 1st railway station (site), Staffordshire
Opened in 1859 by the Cannock Mineral Railway as part of the line from Walsall to Rugeley, this station closed in 1965.
View north west towards Brindley Heath and Rugeley, shortly after the railway line was electrified. The platforms served the lines shown and there were further freight lines to the left, where the cars are parked. In the distance were substantial sidings for all the freight traffic.
The current Hednesford station is immediately behind the camera position (see Image).
