The former Live & Let Live pub (2), Kidderminster Road
The pub had been on the market for about two years, but no acceptable offer to keep it going was received. According to a report presented to Wychavon District Council, the premises suffered from inadequate living accommodation, and cramped conditions in the bar area, plus much competition locally and from further afield. In recent years, it had concentrated on the food side of the business, but it seems this wasn't sufficient to make it viable. The Council therefore eventually agreed to the conversion to a private residence, and for further houses to built on the car park. When this photograph was taken, an extension was being built on one side of the former pub. A picture of the pub, when it was open, taken in March 2006 by Philip Halling, can be seen here:- Image Other recent pictures can be accessed from:- Image

The former Live & Let Live pub (3), Kidderminster Road
On the wall at the east end of the building is this sign. The date of 1813 is no doubt when the pub commenced business. Perhaps the building dates from that year too, or it could be older. It also indicates that this was a Bass house, although in recent years it was a free house. Hopefully this sign will be retained. Other photos:- Image

The former Live & Let Live pub (4), Kidderminster Road
The former pub seems to have been much altered over the years. It's impossible to tell whether this doorway is going to be bricked up, or receive a new door or window. Other photos:- Image

The former Live & Let Live pub (5) - water pump, Kidderminster Road
This old pump, outside the converted pub, presumably used to provide the water supply for the pub long ago. Fortunately it seems it is being allowed to stay - an interesting historic relic. Other photos relating to the pub:- Image

The former Live & Let Live pub (1), Kidderminster Road
This is a poignant reminder of the former Live & Let Live pub, which closed fairly recently, and has been converted into a private residence. This sign is near the pavement, and probably won't be here a great deal longer. The pub also had a traditional pub sign, which was mounted on top of a post. This was nearby, but has already been removed to facilitate building work. The site of the pub's car park has been used to build more houses. Image Image Image Image

Kidderminster Road is the main road through the village. Much of the village's built-up area is between this road and New Road. More about the telephone kiosk here:- Image Image
