Victorian pillarbox
Victorian fluted pillarbox, dating from around 1857, it is one of three examples of this rare pillarbox in Malvern, the other two are on Worcester Road and St Andrew's Road. There are only four pillarboxes of this design in the country, the fourth one can be found in Solihull,

Early Victorian pillar box
The pillar box, dating from around 1857, is one of three examples of this rare pillar box to be found in Malvern; the other two are on Worcester Road and St Andrew's Road. I understand there is only one other of this design with a horizontal letter slot in the country, that is on Dog Kennel Lane Image in Solihull. There are also eight around the country, including two in Warwick of this design with a vertical letter slot. The vertical slots proved unsuitable as they let rain in. Pillar Box manufacturer
Smith & Hawkes Eagle Foundry, Birmingham were an iron foundry on Broad Street in Birmingham until they were taken over in the 1870s. They manufactured this rare Victorian Pillar box Image in Malvern. Of the three such pillar boxes in Malvern, this is the only one with the manufacturer name visible.
