Early Victorian pillar box

The pillar box, dating from around 1857, is one of three examples of this rare pillar box to be found in Malvern; the other two are on Worcester Road and St Andrew's Road. I understand there is only one other of this design with a horizontal letter slot in the country, that is on Dog Kennel Lane Image in Solihull. There are also eight around the country, including two in Warwick of this design with a vertical letter slot. The vertical slots proved unsuitable as they let rain in.
