Whatever Happened to Central Park?
Wigan is a proud Rugby League town and Central Park was the place of worship (its stadium). Demolished to make way for a Tesco store, the only sign of this heritage is the untitled plaque at the base of the sculpture ironically known by locals as the "Easter Egg".

Sitting over the road from St George's CofE Church, it is a very near neighbour of St Mary's RC Church, and is run by the same clergy. Built by an 'Unknown Jesuit' in 1819.
