Stocksmoor Farm, Midgley, Sitlington
Midgley has a sawmill and used to have a coal mine, but there is only this farm, a row of houses, some of them recent, along the B6117, a former chapel and a pub at the junction with the A637.

Woodland, Stocksmoor Common
Stocksmoor Common's acid grassland and secondary woodland had been produced by rough grazing. This kind of landscape has been all but lost in the modern intensively used landscape. The common has been a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust nature reserve since 1965.
