Kenneth Leighton's illustrious career in music spanned many years, beginning in Wakefield, then to Oxford and as Reid Professor of Music in Edinburgh from 1970 until 1988.

Kenneth Leighton - 21, Denstone Street
Kenneth Leighton was one of the most distinguished of the British post-war composers with over 100 compositions published. He attended the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and was a chorister at Wakefield Cathedral. The plaque marks his home as a boy, 21 Denstone Street, off Grantley Street, near the city centre. See Image
