Kenneth Leighton was one of the most distinguished of the British post-war composers with over 100 compositions published. He attended the Queen Elizabeth Grammar School and was a chorister at Wakefield Cathedral. The plaque marks his home as a boy, 21 Denstone Street, off Grantley Street, near the city centre.
