The Boathouse, Boathouse Lane, Hopton
The name of this old house (it was mentioned in 1594) comes from an ancient ferry across the River Calder on the route from Dewsbury Church to Kirkheaton Church, “the priests' way”.

Boathouse Lane, with postbox
If there was ever a boathouse on this lane it would have been at the far end where it comes close to the River Calder. The church tower in the distance is St Mary's Mirfield.
