Butterflies Childrenswear shop, 55,Northgate
No 55, part of the grade II dual listed building No 53, Image, has the remains of a C16 ceiling with deeply moulded cross beams behind an early C19 staircase and a contemporary fireplace. No 57, Butterflies Shoes, to the right of picture, completes the building, but this section is grade II listed only.

Butterflies Shoes shop, 57, Northgate
The front section of No 57, right of picture, and grade II listed, has the remains of a late medieval timber-framed building. The rear section to Gill's Yard, Image was once used as a furniture and upholstery warehouse by Wright and Elwick of Wakefield, the important Yorkshire furniture maker.

The back of The Cow Shed
The bland exterior of the building conceals the fact that it includes part of a late 15th century timber framed building, and further interior detailing from the late Elizabethan period. Not an obvious candidate from the outside to be Listed Grade II*.
