View along the south elevation of the main block. Great potential to convert it into apartments when it closes - but it's much cheaper to raze it to the ground and build lots of identikit houses instead.

Door detail, Whitwood College
Still the original wooden door and windows, most having been replaced by uPVC in recent years. At one time you could go through this door and get your hair cut for £1.50 by the hairdressing students!

Whitwood College
Due to close at the end of the year when the new 'Skills Xchange' opens a short distance away. Scandalously, Wakefield Council have given a housing developer permission to flatten this fine building and replace it with an estate of dreary 'executive' houses. Philistines all of them.
