The Red House, Croxley Green
Although not unique, the Red House is an unusual name for a pub and it is believed that it acquired the name in about 1870. At that time this would have been a rural area but that changed in the 1920s when the Metropolitan Line station arrived next door. Today the pub is a Greene King house with the emphasis on food.

The Red House, Croxley Green - pub sign
It is always interesting to see how artists choose to illustrate pub signs and in this case a rather charming vintage scene depicts the Red House at Croxley Green. It is perhaps from the Edwardian era. The pub is now operated by Greene King and their trademark crown sits on the very top.

New Road, Croxley Green
New Road leads off Watford Road close to Croxley Underground station. The modern block of flats on the right were built on the site of a house that was destroyed by a bomb in the Second World War and subsequently replaced with a wooden building that sold materials for model making.
