London Overground Train at Watford Junction
Watford Junction Railway Station is on the West Coast Main Line (WCML) to London Euston. It is also the terminus of the London Overground Watford DC commuter line https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Watford_DC_Line . One of the Overground's Class 378 "Capitalstar" electric multiple units can be seen in this photo which was taken from a Euston-bound train on the WCML.

The Estcourt Arms, Watford
The Estcourt Arms is a small pub on the corner of Woodford Road and St John's Road - it should not be confused with the nearby Estcourt Tavern. The tables in the foreground belong to the Wellington Arms.

Watford Junction
A view of the slow lines and the goods yard throat. A class 85 electric locomotive approaches with a fast freight as a class 25 leaves the goods yard with a train of hoppers. On the modern railway in 2010 the use of brake vans has ceased but when this photo was taken in 1979 they were still common on local freight trains. Judging by the smoke, the guard has a nice fire going in stove on this chilly August day.
