Scrapped bus near Runcorn Bridge
Visible from The Queensway as you approach the Runcorn Bridge by car travelling toward Chester, this sad old bus always caught my eye so I decided to take a diversion and pay it a visit at the scrap yard.

Daubed on a wall near this row of houses was the comment 'West Bank is S**T' (my asterisk). No offence intended but I think I'm inclined to agree. The place was noisy, dirty & in need of demolition - the area could be turned into a riverside park - anything but housing.

Runcorn Bridge
Approach viaduct on the Widnes side to the railway bridge over the Mersey. It opened to traffic in 1869 after there was a gap in the network for many years.
At the moment the Mersey is like the Forth - there is a venerable railway bridge, a 1960s road bridge and a three tower modern road bridge under construction.
