Defence not Defiance
Motto of the post 1908 Territorial Forces on the former drill hall in Greenway Road. This inscription was made above the doorway of the 1869 building after the new force was formed. The drill hall was base for G Company 5th Battalion Cheshire Regiment.

Doctor's Bridge, Greenway Road, Runcorn
Doctor's Bridge carries Greenway Road over the Bridgewater Canal. Prior to 1899 the O.S. refers to this bridge as Runcorn Bridge. In the background the old Scala picture house building seems to have a problem with its roof.
