On the gable of the drill hall in Greenway Road. Built in 1869 for the 7th Corps Cheshire Rifle Volunteers. From 1880 base for F and G Company 2nd (Earl of Chester's) Volunteer Battalion Cheshire Regiment and from 1908 base for G Company 5th Battalion Cheshire Regiment with Territorial Force motto 'Defence not Defiance' as shown above door. Large hall to rear.
